aaargh! DEB-first, take your son all the steroids Lyme disease is ruled out by a qualified majority [Lyme illiterate] Doctor! Why? The use of steroids can cause permanent neurological damage if the disease is present and can reach places where you do not normally, because the reaction of the local immunosuppression that steroids cause. () Please listen to this warning Sigh.
Now ... Bell's palsy is not a "common" symptoms, but not unusual, even if it relates to children, especially if the bite in the head and neck.
As for the accuracy of blood tests for Lyme, which is woefully inadequate, and lose about 1 / 2 actual cases of Lyme. (I hate to repeat this over and over again, but you do your research. Unfortunately it is true.)
Lyme disease remains a clinical diagnosis (see CDC guidelines and the IDSA). The ELISA test is usually on the body's ability to provide sufficient antibodies for the Lyme disease spirochetes produce base fragments are detected by the test. Sometimes it is not enough ... for several reasons.
Finally, steroidscan suppress the immune response, but I did not hear that, especially with the common blood test for Lyme interfere.
(Oh. .. and my neurological symptoms of Lyme disease from 4 months after the tick bite. A common time, I understand.)

There is absolutely no evidence that Lyme can be discarded. The tests are terrible. Researchers have found evidence that 35 to 50% of culture positive cases of Lyme disease is lost, depending on reading, which study you.

The best information I can give is to go to http://www.ilads.org (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) The list detailed information about the tests, symptoms, and much more. Moreover http://www.lymedisease.org/ is good, as well as http://www.lymediseaseassociation.org/ and http:www.lymeinfo.net

See also Cure Sun: Inside the Lyme Epidemic, and the new movie under the skin that are released in theaters in the coming months. Or visit the website.

Be careful note of the Infectious Diseases Society of America Lyme disease treatment guidelines, were examined by the authors Ct. Attorney Richard Blumenthal, for alleged serious conflicts of interest by many members of the panel that wrote the guidelines for the treatment. The conclusions of the Attorney General is located at: http://www.ct.gov/ag/cwp/view.asp?A=2795&Q=414284

Show your doctor the information above. Most do not know the truth about Lyme disease.

Good luck to you and your son and God bless you!
